On Your Wedding Day swing card

W019

Initially, I didn't intend on making a wedding card. I wanted to make a birthday card. But when I was decorating the lattice on the card, I suddenly visualized a couple of butterflies resting on it and then it struck to me that the card would be suitable as a wedding card instead.

You know how much I love swing cards by now as I have been making a lot of them for the past couple of years. And one of the things that I've always wanted to do is to do a lattice pattern on the mid section of the card. Since I don't have any die-cut patterns of lattice or anything of the sort that looks like it available at hand, that means that I had to make one myself. So the simplest way of doing it is by drawing it on the card and cutting them out by hand.

I gotta say that I had fun cutting the lattice out and decorating it with strings and punched out shapes of flowers and leaves, although I do have another idea or a way of cutting it now by hand which I will try to do later on in future but I still love this lattice pattern just the same.

I have always loved the Martha Stewart Monarch Butterfly pattern....but I rarely use the butterflies on my cards. So much so that I thought it was a waste to have bought it and yet I don't always use it. I definitely need to use it more often. So for this card, it was really suitable for the butterflies and so I added a pair of antennas to each of the butterflies since they didn't have any.  I loved how they turned out in the end.

There are a lot of bling bling on the card itself......inside out. Anywhere I thought it would be suitable, I would paste them.  I'm having fun with them! Will use more of them in other cards soon. They are so fancy schmancy! Hahaha! :D Do check out the video of the card below. You'll be able to see how the lattice swing around with the butterflies :).

Congratulations on your wedding

W018

I got butterflies in my stomach and somehow it got transferred on to the card ;). I rarely put butterflies on my cards but for this one it just seems so suitable and I couldn't help but adding them along side the focal point of the card which is the heart shape paper doily that I got from WholePort.

I've been wanting to do this type of swing card for the longest time and I'm super excited about being able to get it done in the end. It's a see-through type of swing card! hehe! Peekaboo! :D

I used the Yellow quilling paper strips from WholePort to make the quilled heart. I'm getting used to using the 5mm quilling strips....it's not that bad after all. But of course the 3mm type is my personal favourite.

Ok! Sewing on paper like this is therapy for me lately. I just love doing this technique. Not sure if I'll ever get bored doing it one day though. For now it's just bliss!! Even better when using the embroidery thread :).

I also love the lace I used to decorate on the front part of the card. I got that one from WholePort too. I'm just using up all the products I got from them. Fun playing with all the goodies. ;)

Selamat Pengantin Baru

W017

I was requested to make this wedding card and I couldn't be happier about it because it's a little different from what I've done before. Every time I create a new card, I try to either implement something that I've tried before and make it better or I use a new technique or material.

For this card, it's a combination of all that and I'm pretty happy with the outcome. It's been a while since I last made those quilled love birds too. Every time I make them, they'll turn out a little different because it's handmade. So it's bound to have a character of it's own. First time ever to have them on a swing card too! Weeehooo!!

This is my first time trying out one of the packs of quilling paper that I got from WholePort. It's smooth on the sides and it's a bit wide, which is about 5mm in width and the length is about 54cm. It's called the Rose Red Quilling paper.  This is my first time using a 5mm quilling paper too. Usually I just use the shredded A4 paper for my quilling projects. And the width is usually about 3.5mm.

It's the first time for me to quill using my new beads slotted quilling tool too on my new card. It may not be the best quilling tool to use since it's handmade, but it does function as a quilling tool and I was able to make those quilling decorations on the card using it. So I'm quite satisfied with it so far:).

I managed to use a few of the brass charms that I got from WholePort too. The latest one I got is that love pendant. It's really pretty....love how it looks on the card. You can check out the pendants at the links here:
1. Believe in love charm
2. Live your dream charm
3. Love pendant

I gotta say that making swing cards nowadays is a must for me. I just love them so much. I do miss making pop up cards though. It's something I seriously have to think about doing in the next few months. I do hope that I'll have time to do all that I wish and miss so dearly.

Do check out my video here.....I took a video of the card so that you can view how the card swings in motion. ;)

Red hot love birds

 W016

One day I woke up with this idea to have these love birds red  in color on a white blank card . Not just red hot for the birds, but even for the branch, leaves, the tiny flower and the heart. :) I just wanted to see what it looks like on paper.....whether it looks the same as the idea I had in my vision or not. After completing it, I must say that it's the same as the vision I had in my head and I loved it. :) I'm not sure if others would agree as the colors are quite contrasting and the red color really pops from the white background.

I'm just experimenting with colors for this design. Trying to see what other colors would be suitable other than the colors I've done before. I must say that I really enjoy making this  particular design.  Somehow I just love the process of making it and how it looks in the end. Very therapeutic :).

Love birds with pop up

 W014b

Excited! Why? Because now my love birds card has a pop up in it hehehe....thanks to the request I got from my customer. If it wasn't for her, the card would be empty inside like the original one I made a while back. Have a look at the original design here -  W014.

I've been making this design so many times already.....so much so that I've perfected the shape of the birds by now. Now, I'm happy with the shape. It's slimmer and suits the head of the bird itself. If you look at the original design that I made many months back, the body of the bird is so big and chubby hehehe..... :D I love how the loose circles in the body of the bird forms like the shape of it's wings. :)

The pop up inside the card is actually the same kind of pop up I made for the card V034. For that card I made the color of the pop up in blue shades.....but for this card I made the pop up color more to black shades to match the card, as requested by my customer and not forgetting the printed wordings inside it too :)

Crochet flowers and felt leaves

W015

I had a dream last night. This card was inspired by that dream. I dreamt that a friend of mine got married. I was at her hometown and it was during the time of her wedding. She was really pretty on her wedding day. It was weird to have dreamt her getting married now considering that she had already gotten married years ago. So I have no idea why I had that dream. I wonder what it means. Hmmmmm.......but whatever it means.....it was a beautiful wedding though.... :).

Ok....now back to the card design hehehe. When I did the red crochet flowers previously....I also made these pink ones too. I only bought two color yarns for making crochet flowers....pink and red. So here is my take on the pink ones. At first I wanted to use the crochet leaves but I think they are not that nice coz I'm still not that good at making them....I still need to practice more on leaves. So to replace it, I decided to use multi colored felt instead. And I love how it looks! I can cut out the perfect size of felt leaves for the crochet flowers. It's easy to do too.

I love how easy the wedding pop up cake was to make! Got it done in just a few minutes! hehe! I think the embossed white paper is suitable for such an occasion. The pink flowers was added to match the design on the card. Simple and sweet :).

White love birds on black

W014

After reading a comment from my fellow blogger and card maker, Miss Azilah from Cupcake Craft and Handmade Card, who suggested that the wedding love birds would look lovely on a black card, I immediately thought it was a good idea to try. So I did! ;) And here it is hehehe......hope you like it Azilah :).

I made some changes on the branch to make it look different from the wedding love birds card I made yesterday. I guess that's one of the difference other than the change of color. :) This card is not exactly black.....but it's actually dark metallic grey. I purposely chose this color  instead of a pitch black card to tone down the contrast  between the white paper and the background of the card and also to make it look more elegant with the metallic color. :)

p.s. My Mom made a comment too when she saw these white wedding love birds......she said, "Why  did you make the birds look white like ghosts??!!". "Is this a sympathy card for those who have lost a loved one?" Hahahaha!! Then I said...."No Mom.....it's A WEDDING CARD laaaaaaaaaa! The birds symbolizes the bride and the groom......brides usually wear white on their wedding day remember??? hahahahaha........gosh!! :D

Wedding love birds

W013

I'm still in the love theme mood hehe....can't help it. The quilled birds gave me another inspiration last night. Inspired to do wedding card design with white quilled birds on it. I have done wedding cards before with white doves and even white butterflies on dark red colored card and I love the two combination. So I made a couple of white love birds and arranged it in this new layout.

It's very simple.....clean look. The only fancy thing I did was added the tiny white sequin flower on the female bird's head and sort of made the female bird a "white veil" on her head as well...hehehhe.

This is actually a card I made for my friend who is getting married soon. Hope she loves it as much as I do. I plan to print wordings inside to congratulate her and her hubby on their wedding. Can't show it here as it is kinda personal :).

This card can also be a wedding invitation card. But I don't know if I have the energy to make these in bulk hehehe....I definitely can make 50 of these....but 100?? Not sure....huhuhu....1000?? I'll faint! hahahaha! :D

Bridal gown

W012b

W012a

I haven't been making wedding bridal gown cards for quite some time now. I have been getting quite a number of requests from customers who are interested in this design for their wedding. But at the moment I am just not able to do them because I don't have enough time to do bulk orders for one particular customer. So I just prefer to do wedding cards that are meant to be given to brides and congratulate them on their wedding. :)

The material I used to make the bridal gown is doily paper. There are a lot of types of doily paper in the market. I found this new pattern which I quite like and have made a wedding gown out of it recently for one of my wedding card designs. So now I'm using the same one to make a bridal gown for this small wedding card. As you can see, the shape of the gown is similar to my old wedding card designs, the only difference is the pattern of the doily paper. Another difference is that I layered the wedding gown with a white organza to get that shiny effect. Usually I would layer it with metallic silver or gold paper. I wrote the wordings at the side of the wedding gown "happily ever after" as a wish for the lucky bride :). It's handwritten using a gold metallic pen. Love that!

Pop up wedding cake....

W011

I am super excited about this design.....it is a request from my customer to make a wedding card for her brother who will be getting married soon. Honestly, I didn't have an idea of how to do the design until yesterday the idea popped up in my head. hehehehe.....My customer decided on the color combination earlier on....she wanted it to be in black and white. But I added silver, gold and grey in it as well.

I've always wanted to use the doily to make a wedding gown like this. So finally I get to do it today. It's also a first time for me to do a groom together with the bride.....usually I would only do a wedding gown using doily paper. I guess it was easier that way. :) But now I've tried something that is new to me. Ever since I've been doing a lot of figure drawing for my card designs, I've less fear of doing it. So, I hope to be better at this as I go along. After all it does take a lot of practice and practice to be good at something. :)

This is also the first time for me to do a wedding cake. I've been doing a lot of birthday cakes but no wedding cakes before. So for a wedding cake I have no need to put any candles on it at all....I decided that I wanted to decorate it using a glittered organza. Wrapped it around the cake and then decorate it with ribbons and heart shape paper. It was easy to do. :) A simple square pop up.

Selamat Pengantin Baru!

W010

This was a last minute order from my Mom's friend. Seriously I was thinking of declining the order but since she said I can do whatever I want with the design, I thought to myself, hmmmm.....why not?! Just do it! hihihihihi!

Why I choose soft blue, white and silver colors for this design ?Because it was the same colors of the wedding invitation card my customer received from her friend. So I thought why not use the same combo. It's sweet :) I opted for an emboss white paper for the base of the card. I have not been using this type of paper for quite a while.....so it was nice to use it again for this design. It's suitable for this type of occasion.

I was also asked to do a pop up inside. But I was wondering how to do so vertically since I had to also put in the card quite a long text she prepared for me. After much thought, I decided to try out something I've been thinking of doing sometime back. Which is the square pop up, that I usually do for horizontal cards. I kinda like the idea...hehehe.....square pop ups are so easy to do and can paste any shape on it. Thank God my customer loved it so much. I was kinda worried.....in fact I always worry.....I worry too much sometimes hehehehe.....oh well! :)
