Die-cut bookmarks

I've been wanting to make these bookmarks for a long time now. Ever since I bought that die cut label shape , I knew I wanted to use it for making bookmarks. The shape of the pattern was exactly what I wanted for my bookmarks.

I had the idea of using the wrapping paper I got from Wholeport to make the background for the bookmarks. I just love how it looks. This gives me more ideas of using the other pattern paper I have to make bookmarks such as this. I received a lot of  wrappping paper of the same design from Wholeport and I was thinking of what to make of them. And this was just perfect.

A good friend of mine ordered these bookmarks from me to give to her close friends. I suggested that the bookmark should have some wordings at the back, that's why she chose the wordings you see at the back of the bookmark. She loved that one the most. I didn't have a lot of rubber stamps with wordings for her to choose though......I would have had to print some other wordings if she couldn't find anything that she liked. I really love stamping on those oval die cut label shapes. :)

I also had fun making those Teary loops flowers........first time for me to use them to decorate on my new project. I love making simple projects like these sometimes and it would be nice to make extra for me to keep and use as well. I like to have something nice in hand in case I need them to give away to friends or family. :)

Pink and peach

BM020A

BM020B

Finally I managed to get these bookmarks done this month! I was afraid I would miss my deadline. This was ordered from me months ago and even this was something I find it difficult to get done because of my busy schedule. But I did it! Yay!

The design of the bookmark is actually an old design of mine that my customer was interested in....which is the BM020 bookmark. But she wanted me to choose the colour combination myself and it had to be sweet and cheerful looking and this was what I came up with. I think the colours that I chose were sweet :). As sweet as the person receiving it I hope hehe! :)

The names and stars were hand carved by the way......no craft punch or die cut machine was involved in the process :).

13

It's been while since I last made any bookmarks such as these.....especially with names engraved at the back of it. It's rather time consuming and takes a lot of patience to make. I still have two more of these to make for another customer. Hope to be able to blog about that one in a day or two. :) Sorry the photos are not that clear......took them in a rush...but you can view them up close at the slide show below this post.

My customer ordered 13 bookmarks for her colleagues and one for herself. She's moving to another company soon so these bookmarks are like farewell gifts for her dear colleagues. She was interested in two of my bookmark designs.....one was the BM006 and the other was the BM008. So the bookmarks were done using those designs but the colours vary from one another. I've never had to do so many colours at the same time! Phew! Luckily I had all the colours of paper and ribbons to make these bookmarks hehe!

First time for me to do the name in two colours.....usually it's just one single colour. It was and interesting try since my customer wanted the colour for her own bookmark to be in pink and purple. :)

3 tone flower bookmark

A simple bookmark made for my customer.........simple and sweet ;) Focusing more on the flower itself.....rather than on other things on the bookmark. So the flower is the first thing you would look at when you look at the bookmark.

I used the quilling comb technique for the leaves and flower.....can't help but be obsessed with that technique these days :).

5 January 1984

HB097

5th of January 1984.....it's a special date for my dear customer's husband :). Alhamdulillah I managed to get this card order done on time and also a paper beaded bookmark as well for my dear customer. I wasn't so sure I was able to make them at first. I haven't been in the best of health lately.

Pretty excited about designing this card for my customer who requested this birthday card for her dear husband. She wanted something simple and elegant looking, nothing too crowded. White background with some colours of my choice to be added. Sometimes doing a simple design can be complicated for my brain to handle hahaha. I over think the design sometimes and cannot decide how to make it simple. In the end I decided to play with ribbons and some bling bling. ;)

I guess this is the first time for me to use the glitter foam on my card. First time for me as well to draw a number, a big number on the glitter foam and cut it out by hand. It was an interesting experience to do that. I've only use glitter foams to make heart shapes before but never something like this.

This is the first time for me as well to make a cover for the birthday card. This was a request from my customer who wanted something similar to this. I didn't know how to do it at first. I just did what I thought was right and although I didn't have a pretty nice lacey type of paper to use for this purpose, I designed one myself using a bit thinner paper, pearly white metallic paper.....and decorated it with the same type of paper in shapes of hearts. The hearts were cut using a craft punch. Two sizes...one small one, one big one. All scattered around the front and I added some silver glitter dots on it too. Lastly I added a shiny ribbon to wrap up the card with. The envelope is made from a shiny silver paper. Love it! :)

Inside the card there is a pop up of a photo of her husband and his mother, plus some wordings she asked me to add in the card. I am not allowed to upload the photo here so, I'm sorry I couldn't share it with everyone that part of the card. I have to respect her privacy :).

BM020

Ok! Here's the bookmark! My customer was interested in my paper beaded bookmarks that has names engraved on it. So I was asked to engrave her husband's name....and since the card is black and white in colour, I decided to make the bookmark in the same colour combination.

She also requested that I added her name on the bookmark. I just didn't know how or where on the bookmark that I can add her name. Didn't want to put her name behind the bookmark....didn't think it would look nice that way. Luckily I thought of the alphabet beads I have available in my collection and added the words, "LOVE" and "RIFFA" to the ribbons. So when you look at the bookmark, it will look like "Eswar love Riffa" or "Riffa love Eswar". Love it! :) Happy that my customer liked the idea too. So problem is solved! Yay!! :)

Bookmarks for Shruti & Ritesh

BM018

BM019

A request I received from a dear customer about 2 months ago to make some handmade cards and paper beaded bookmarks for her and dear husband. I took such a long time to get them done, but finally they are all done and ready to be posted. I'm so happy about that. I wish my customer didn't have to wait so long. Luckily for me my customer is such a sweetie. Such a patient customer she is. One of a kind :).

She was very much interested in my paper beaded bookmarks, especially the ones I made that has carved names on them. She requested for her name and hubby's on the bookmarks. One red and the other blue. The bookmarks are quite big in size, about 19.4cm x 7.7cm. I couldn't make them smaller because of the size of the letters and the carved out shapes around it that won't fit in a smaller size bookmark.

I put extra beads as well for each bookmark since the size of bookmark is bigger. The more the merrier :).

Ketupat on bookmarks

BM015

BM016

BM017

I was requested to make 3 paper beaded bookmarks recently. My customer was interested in a bookmark design I made long ago from my Anilza Beads blog. The bookmark has a name on it and some shapes of stars scattered on it too. All carved out by hand. Check it out at the link HERE.

So I did a similar design for the 3 bookmarks she requested with 3 different names and colour combinations. My customer also requested that I added a ribbon ketupat at the back of the bookmark and leave some space below it for her to write some wishes on it. So I thought why not paste a small piece of paper below the ketupat for her to write on because the colour of the bookmark is quite dark and it would be difficult to see the wordings on it if she writes on it using a regular pen unless she has a special light coloured ink pen. So that's the reason for that small piece of paper below the ribbon ketupat :).

I have to say I had fun making those ribbon ketupats last night. I haven't made any since last year. ;) So this was a fun little project eheheheh :).

Quilled cupcake & chocolate bookmarks

BM014 - (with pink cupcake)

BM014 - (with peach cupcake)

I've done quilled cupcakes before but never done any quilled chocolates and I love it hehehe! I just did 3 very simple different shapes of it in dark brown quilling strips. They look like dark chocolates! Yummy! :)

These bookmarks were a request from a customer of mine who makes and sells chocolates and cupcakes too. I get hungry just browsing her blog! hehe!

Red theme quilled butterfly and quilled hearts

BM013

Red theme quilled butterfly bookmarks with tiny quilled hearts :). A request I got from my customer who wanted me to combine a quilled butterfly and tiny quilled hearts in one bookmark. One for herself and the other for her loved one....so sweet hehe. Both bookmarks has their names engraved at the back of it as well. I cut out their names by hand. :)

These bookmarks have a different function. Not for marking books but for her to hang it in her car and  in his car as well......hang them at the top view mirror hehehe. That is why I tied the ribbons with a knot at the ends that way. Not sure if the length of the ribbon is enough though to go through the top view mirror. I  forgot to check these things out before I tied the ribbons to the bookmarks. Sigh.....hope it works out...

I love the paper I used for the back of the bookmark. It's a dark gray metallic paper. Love the way it shines when it hits the light. And it sure does have a good contrast with the red color too. Loving it! :)
