Cutting words out of die-cut alphabets

TY006

It all started a few days ago when I was playing and experimenting with the die-cut alphabets that made me thought of using them to cut out wordings on card stocks. In the beginning I was not too keen on doing it because it would be mean that I would have to separate the die-cut alphabets into individual pieces. I hated doing that because I loved looking at them all joined together. I'm weird no? haha!

But for the love of experiments, I did what I had to do...huhuhu! But I'm glad now that I did that because otherwise I wouldn't be able to try out this technique. Check out the photo above where I did the wordings "thank you" using the die-cut alphabets. I love the fact that I can arrange them any way I like on the card. At first I arranged them in a straight line before cutting them with the die-cut machine.......but after a while I got bored and arranged them randomly like the one I did for the swing card below.

For the wordings on the note size card you see above, I used a scrap pattern paper to layer behind the cut out alphabets, but for the swing card below, I used a shiny transparent fabric and white paper to layer behind the cut out alphabets. So cutting out the alphabets on card stocks are fun because it reminds me of what I did before with my bookmarks. You can view a sample of what I did with my bookmarks at the links HERE and HERE. It's similar in concept but different in technique because the one I did for my bookmarks were cut out by hand using a craft knife. That was a lot harder to do compared to using die-cut alphabets.

I think by far, this is the simplest swing card design I've ever made. The only thing that is difficult to do for me is the blending of the distress ink on each corner of the card because I'm still learning how to control the blending tool. Sometimes it works really well, sometimes it doesn't but I can't blame it on the blending tool, I must blame myself because I'm not getting enough practice. Must practice more. ;)

My first step card!!

TY005

I've been experimenting with this step card layout since last year but never got the chance to complete the card till now. There are so many types of step card that I wish to try out so I tried making this one first which is called the "Center step card" and will try to do more of the other types later on this year. I love all types of step cards as they give such a different type of layout that is suitable for different embellishments. It's so much fun for me to try them out.

I haven't made a thank you card for quite sometime now......and this particular one was made for 2 of my dear friends who have been supporting my work and motivating  me since my early days of designing cards and selling them online.  Been a while since I designed a card for them so this is something that I have been wanting to do since last year and finally I get some time off to make this card for them. Hope they will like it! ;) Oh....forgot to mention that the pattern paper I used for this card was given to me as a gift by one of them.....hehehe....I wonder if she will recognize the paper when she sees it! hehe! ;)

I gotta say that I just love making this step card........I'll definitely make more of this type of card this year. Loving it so much! :)

Thank you so much Mas!

TY004

How sweet is this sweet color combo?? I love the sweet soft pastel colors here. I was requested to do a thank you card for the same customer who ordered the Chelsea FC card. This card is for her dear friend Mas. I was the one who suggested a pop up inside but at the time I had no idea what to do yet....hehehehehe.....I only had the idea of doing it as sweet looking as possible....cute, adorable like what my customer wanted. Something with soft pastel colors and feminine looking.

I realized that after so many times making a handmade card that is quite big in size, now I find making a card that is small quite in size quite difficult to do...hehehe....funny huh??? Well, that's how I felt when I made this card....I felt like there is not much room for decoration.....and it was quite difficult to make a pop up inside....especially a pop up like the one above. Perhaps for small cards like this, it's better to make simpler pop ups. Hmmm.....it's a lesson learned for me this time. I guess I was too adventurous in trying. ;P

But all in all I love this sweet looking card no matter what......I am so in love with the colors.....I would love to have a blouse with these colors on them.....so girlish hehehe......so like me!!! :D

Terima Kasih Chenta....

TY003

Ain't it sweet? hehhehe! I must say that I really love the color combination here. Soft pink, turquoise, white and purple, plus a little touch of silver. This is a request I got from my previous customer's husband. Before this, my customer surprised him with my handmade card, and now he is surprising her with a similar card to thank her for the surprise she gave him. Sweet huh? hehehe..... :)

He suggested that I use similar colors like the card he received which was purple and pink theme but since it is to be given to a lady, I thought perhaps I should make it more softer and sweeter. He also suggested I use turquoise since she loves that color too.

Actually I made this card a lot earlier but couldn't publish it here yet because I had to wait till the surprise is over in order to do it. I can't risk having her see the card before the surprise. hehehe....So once I got the green light, I can now publish it here today. So happy about that. It's about time :)

The card I made before (HB052), I did the pop up of the husband with hair that was just cut out from a black colored paper. But this time around I tried to draw the hair using an ink pen. It was an interesting experiment hehehe....I think it looked ok, much better than just cutting out a shape from a black colored paper right? LOL! I also made the pop up of the husband and wife holding each others hands.....that's different, I've never done that before hehehe.....so difficult too. I was suppose to put some baby products somewhere inside the card together with the pop ups but somehow my experiments didn't work out so instead I just added the USANA products in the basket which is something that his wife is taking now for her pregnancy. And the other basket I added some bottled products. Those were suppose to be gifts for his wife. I was only suppose to make one basket, of him holding the basket and handing it out to his wife but since I couldn't figure out how to do so after so many trials, I decided the best thing to do is just pop the baskets on the left and right side of the card. LOL!

I really hope his wife loves it. :)
